Crystal Clear Resin for Pouring and Casting - not for thin layer coating (see Epoxy section below)

Ultra Clear Casting Resins - 700cc - polyurethane based

Ultra Crystal clear resin is currently used in a variety of applications ranging from an encapsulation resin for electrical and electronic components, to the sealing of Artworks and the creation of crystal clear resin blocks containing interesting objects.

Candle Holder. Potted Clear Resin LEDs

Ultra Crystal resin was specifically designed as an encapsulation resin for PCB boards and LEDs, where an optically clear cast resin material is required. It remains as a crystal clear resin and does not discolour when placed for 1000 hours in a UV chamber. It has good flexibility and ultra low moisture absorption when cured.

'Encapsulation' – the enclosing (or 'potting') of electronic and electrical components, generally into a plastic or metal box. This is done by locating the device in an enclosure and simply using the clear resin casting process.

Typical Clear Pouring Resin Industrial Applications – Transformers, Capacitors, Electronic Filters, PCB’s, Cable Joints, LED’s, Power supplies, Batteries, Sensors, automotive electronic devices.

Typical Clear Resin Artistic Applications - used as a clear pouring resin for encapsulation of art objects, creation of crystal clear scientific models (e.g. insects, coins, minerals), casting jewellery, casting statues, animals and models.

Where NOT to use these Casting Resins - as thin coatings (less than 10mm) to seal surfaces, on any surface that has a moisture content, or in any workshop where the humidity and temperature cannot be maintained throughout mixing and curing at at least 20C with a maximum RH of 60%.

Reasons - Polyurethanes of this type will absorb moisture from surfaces or from the air, causing bubbles to form. In thin layers they are more prone to this effect. Low temperatures result in slower curing and a longer risk period for bubble formation. Continuous warmth and low humidity, together with a thick layer, are the answers to this problem.

Ultra Crystal Clear Resin - technical

PROPERTIES

Room temperature (20C) cured, long working life, crystal clear resin, excellent non-yellowing characteristics, low viscosity, semi-rigid, excellent moisture resistance, excellent adhesion to most substrates.

Activator + Base = Crystal Clear Resin

Recommended temperature range (- 40) to + 130 degrees C based on a static environment subjected to a gradual rise and fall from an external temperature source. Please check with our Technical Department before specifying clear pouring resin.

UV stability - UV stability is good, but weathering or oxidation effects will occur when the Crystal Resin material is left in an outdoor environment for extended periods.

Polyurethane Crystal Clear Resin Characteristics - uncured resin is highly reactive to moisture, both in the atmosphere and on the surfaces to be covered. Ensure that the atmospheric moisture content is controlled at less than 60% RH and that all contact surfaces and mixing tools are dry. If controls are not correctly implemented moisture can be trapped in the finished product, giving rise to milky coloured patches.

Handling Caution - mixing - air entrapment may cause cloudiness in the finished product. Ask for technical advice before proceeding.

Mixing Techniques - use dry mixing vessels and double mix: that is, mix A with B in one clean vessel, then transfer the mixture to a second clean vessel and mix again. This prevents uncured resin from being left on the surface of the final pour, which would then always remain sticky.

Clear Resin for Coating surfaces - epoxy based

Epoxy Seal Coating and Epoxy Primer - 500cc, 1 litre or 2.5 litres

Clear epoxy resin is currently used in a variety of applications ranging from coating metals, fabrics, concrete and wood.

Epoxy Seal coat resin was specifically designed as a coating resin for indoor applications. It has good flexibility and ultra low moisture absorption when cured.

Typical Clear Epoxy Artistic Applications - used as a clear sealing resin for art objects, sealing of paintings and murals, finishing and glazing of plaster, brick and stone objects.

Where NOT to use these Epoxy Resins - for encapsulation or for thick coatings (more than 2 mm) to seal surfaces where a crystal clear finish is required, or in any workshop where the humidity and temperature cannot be maintained throughout mixing and curing at at least 15C.

Reasons - thick layers may look Amber in colour. Epoxies slow down during curing as the temperature falls: curing stops at 5C.

Epoxy Seal Coating Resin - technical

PROPERTIES

Room temperature (20C) cured, long working life, clear resin, slight yellowing characteristics when cast in thicknesses over 5mm, low viscosity, semi-rigid, excellent moisture resistance, excellent adhesion to most substrates.

Recommended temperature range (- 40) to + 130 degrees C based on a static environment subjected to a gradual rise and fall from an external temperature source. Please check with our Technical Department before specifying epoxy seal coat or primer resin.

UV stability - not for outdoor use. May turn yellow/orange after prolonged exposure to UV light.

Epoxy Resin Characteristics - uncured resin is NOT reactive to moisture vapour and will not bubble on damp surfaces. However, a drop in temperature (say, overnight) during initial curing, may cause condensation to form, leading to 'milky patches.

Handling Caution - mixing - air entrapment may cause air bubbles in the finished product.
